What is insulation?
To insulate is to “protect something by interposing material that prevents the loss of heat.” Basically, insulating your home or business helps keep the heat in. As you know, the cost of heating is expensive, so every little bit you can save really counts.
What options are there?
There are a whole bunch of different insulation options, but some simply out perform the others. There are types of insulation such as fiberglass, roxul, foam board, cellulose, and spray foam. While all of the different types could be used in different areas, spray foam is by far the best choice. It seals up any voids there might be to completely stop air flow. Spray foam also has the highest R-Value per inch.
How can I save money?
No matter how you insulate, you will always save money on your heating bills. Insulation is a great investment for your home or business and will pay for itself extremely quickly. However, there are some ways to save money on the insulation itself.
One great way to save is to see if we can help you get any of the great rebates through Efficiency Maine. There are also some ways we could help you save money by using different types of insulation. For example, in the right setting we could spray two inches of spray foam in an attic to seal it all up. On top of that, we could install cellulose to get the overall R-Value up.
